29.01 finally

This week has dragged by at a snails pace, always the way when times are tougher. Still, I made it through and for that I am thankful.

Today's outfit consists of a forgotten about pair of tights and a combination of two of my favourite colours for spring. It's too cold for wearing outside of the house, but I'm going nowhere, so it doesn't really matter!

I also got round to baking a Lemon Madeira cake, requested by my Mum, it may not be the prettiest cake I've ever made the even the scent of it that's currently working it's way around the house is more than making up for that!

Photobucket

When it is fully cool I will trim the edges to make it neater I think.
There was enough mixture left over to trying out my silicon cupcake cases. I love these and need more! I only have four right now.

The recipe came from our oldest cook book, which is one of my favourites! I expect lots of UK people have one of these lurking somewhere in their house.

Let me know if you want the recipe!

The cake looks delicious, I would love the recipe so I might give it a go. I have never seen that cook book, but then again I'm not from the UK.

I'm still planning to make some blueberry muffins, from one of those betty crocker kits, I've made them before and they're pretty good.

Love that lacy top with the gray under it!

that cookbook is so cute. I think the australian version is something like "the margaret fulton encycolpedia of cookery", my parents got it as an engagement gift and I use it all the time, haha (my boyfriend pays me out)... the cake sounds delicious, and that smell! sigh. I'd love to hear what cookware you use, like the silicone cupcake moulds... I want to use silicone but I'm so scared it will melt, hahaha. and yep, I'd love to hear the recipe too :)

Oh, the lemon Madeira cake sounds lovely! If you don't mind, I'd love the recipe. I just have one recipe of a lemon cake at the moment and I make it all the time (bf loves anything with lemon), but I don't really like it that much (I think I got bored of it), so it would be great to try something new as well..

What a hoot, silicon cupcakes! If you've got it typed up in a file, I'd love the recipe. We called madiera cake 'pound cake' in America, and it's my favourite cake.

Love those colours, too, and the lace. I think it's important at this time of year to dress spring-like while staying warm. Actually I'm wearing very similar tones today: pale ballerina pink DKNY tights (must be from my NY days) & my grey American Apparel fine knit mini dress. And boots.

Hope you're doing okay. Let's talk. Can talk sometime tomorrow if you'd like.

That top is lovely. You always baked the nicest things. I love old cookbooks... but maybe that's because they remind me of my childhood and baking with my mum.

I remember that book from when I was a kid - bet my mum still has it somewhere!

p.s: I love your lacy top - it looks great with the other top underneath it.

Jen said...

Oh, I do remember my mum baking from that very book! Happy times.

Top tip for silicone bun cases - B&M Bargains. I got 6 for 99p in lots of colours! They have loads of silicone bakeware in there. :)

I always admire your tights, when I think of your blog I automatically associate it with tights - they're your thing, and you wear them so well :)

As for the Lemon Madeira cake, I must admit I've never been a fan of lemon in puddings, so I think I'll give that a pass - but I hope you enjoyed it!
