10.01 winter beauty

This cold weather makes my skin so dull and dry, fighting it seems like a never-ending battle, and I'm curious to know how everyone copes.

These are my top three products, what are yours?

Photobucket

E45 Lotion, which I get from Boots, Superdrug or Tesco. I use this stuff liberally on my face and body for intense dry skin relief. It's suitable for the most sensitive of skin and costs around £2.59 a bottle

Vaseline Rosy Lips, again I buy this from Boots, Superdrug or Tesco for around £1.40. I use this not only on my lips, but for a sheer and subtle glow on my cheeks. In this weather not much blusher is needed as the freezing temperatures give natural colour to my cheeks!

ELF shimmering facial whip is a recent discovery of mine (I know, wayyyy behind) and was skeptical about how good a product that only cost £1.50 could be. I use the white shade "spotlight" and it gives the perfect luminous glow to my skin, stoping that dull, grey hue I tend to take on during the winter months.

My current winter perfume is Lola by Marc Jacobs as I tend to favour less subtle scents in winter than I do when the weather is warm. I was lucky enough to get a 100ml bottle of this for Christmas, so I'm set to smell good for a while.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend, more snowfall here, and it looks set to last.
Going by how mad work was yesterday (it made Christmas and New Year look quiet) you'd think the world was about to end.

I totally agree with nookie, anything made by nivea gets my vote! Their light daily moisturising cream has been my staple for years. I do need to brave the snow and get out and buy another tube of it though!

blue nivea for my hands and vaseline for my lips ;)

Kiki said...

Yep. Nivea for my hands, whole foods organic lip balm, and a banana honey face mask once a week :]

Hope you're having a good weekend x

great list, i was just about to do something similar! E45 cream is great and for so many different skin types! Cheap to boot, so whats to dislike! :D

and yes, a strong perfume in winter always perks me up! Coco Chanel always makes me feel cosy! x

Oh, great post. My three top winter beauty buys would have to be:

1. Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm. Great for repairing dry, chapped lips and it smells and tastes amazing!

2. Soap & Glory Hand Food. Makes my hands really soft and smells great!

3. ELF Mineral Face Primer. Gives my makeup serious staying power, even in these horrible conditions! :)

Pink Flower said...

I guess my three would have to be - carmex for my lips as it works wonders, Parmers coca butter and just cheap avon hand cream. Mind you I keep experimenting at the moment because my skin is just feeling extra zapped of moisture!

great products; i usually just use vaseline or nivea lotion. and i have my certified organic rosemary mint lip balm lol

CherryBlossom said...

I've never seen that Vaseline before! I love rose products!

My top three winter essentials are:

Clinique moisturiser, I'm using the anti-red formula at the moment!

Carmex - obviously!

Olive oil - great for hot oil hair treatments!

My skin is not a happy bunny this winter! Wah!

I'm a Lush addict. The Vanishing Cream moisturiser has actually changed my life (though I'm also a fan of the cheaper and similar Cosmetic Lad - not just for the boys!). It keeps your skin moist but is never, ever greasy. Even in this weather!

Fresh Farmacy soap and Ultra Bland cleanser are my other two Lush skincare must-haves!

I got a Boots brazil nut body butter for Christmas and it smells good enough to devour, and keeps my little paws from drying out! Check it out!

I haven't heard of the ELF facial whip but I'm seriously intrigued. It sounds amazing!

100ml of lola! wow! i got 30ml. i do love it though. more of a night time scent for me. i don't really get dry skin, but my hair has been really suffering so i've been using aussie 3 minute miracle on it. also - love rosy lips.

I wish the products you talk about were available here in the US. Y'all across the pond have more stringent requirements for ingredients, which appeals greatly to my "hippie product" -loving self. Basically, I try stuff all the time -- the big requirements being products that are free of SLS and parabens. And glycol free when I can find it.

i'm always grey looking! it's kind of strange. i have never gotten dry skin until this year, and so i have to do something about it now.

I'm at that gross age where I'm dried out but still liable to break out. Trying to find the perfect lightweight moisturizer. Any suggestions/

Every night I put Yes To Carrots body butter on my hands and feet. Then when I wake up the next morning they're so soft!

I don't know if they carry these products in England, but you could check out their website.

lol what on earth is facial whip? it sounds great though, anything that makes your skin luminous is fab for winter!

Sherin said...

Vaseline is a godsend in the winter! And Olay cream is a must for my skin.

My personal favorite for copying with this is my iron food supplement. It SAVES me, literally, as I seem to have a noticeable iron deficiency during the colder season, and it really shows.

I'm a big fan of rosebud salve. Nothing moisturizes my lips better!

I also love a rich, thick lotion like Eucerin during the winter months too.

FAbulous tip i learnt in university;

take 4 tablespoons of johnson&johnson's baby oil (or similar product) and put it in your bath. Soak your body for at least 15 minutes and when you emerge your skin will be silky smoooooth!

i also like to use scrub mitts in the shower and then coat myself with st. ives vitamin e cream. in the frigid toronto weather i have to hydrate my skin!

Susan said...

I totally agree with the Vaseline Rosy Lips, it's great for cheeks as well :-) Moisturiser for face: Clinique Dramatically Different for dry skin, any Body Shop body butter for body, and for hands: Soap and Glory hand food. My hair has gotten super dry as well so Aussie 3 minute miracle seems to be helping!

Born Lippy watermelon lip balm and Bath and Body Works Rainkissed Leaves for my hands. :)

Love all your mentioned products, no handbag would be complete without a tin of vaseline!

My 3 can't live without products would be -

1- Elf Mineral Foundation, haven't found anything else that both covers my tempremental skin and feels so light at the same time

2- Body Shop Papaya Lip Balm, soothing a fruity!

3- Soap and Glory Righteous Butter, thick body butter without being greasy!

I have super dry skin and hate how the winter weather makes it feel. I use a milky cleanser, baby oil around by eyes and lots of nivea on my face! Seems to do the trick :)

I have really dry skin, so suffer too in the winter. A really good hand cream is a must for me too.

That Elf stuff looks good, might have to try some of that.

Clinique moisturizer and any of the myriad of L'Occitane hand creams I have lying around! They use a ton of shea butter which feels divine.

The ELF whip sounds amazing but I've never seen it here in the states.

Uggh, I have NO good ways to cope, quite honestly. But I've found Aveno baby moisturizer has been working great for dry hands and legs lately. I'm going to have to try your remedies...

I use E45 too! I use it on my body because when it's this cold i tend to take hot showers and they dry out my skin... never thought of using it on my face though...
Dr. Hauschka Day Rose Cream is also something i must have in winter as its so rich. Aaand GAL parfumeria lip balm in red currant.

I use a lot of Lip Smackers products on my lips. Can't use creams on my face yet, my skin is too sensitive.-Feather
