almost there

So close to the weekend now, who's excited?
What are your plans for Halloween? I'm working for 3 hours in the morning, then off to a friend's house in the evening for a catch up/girly sleepover. Not very spooky, but some much needed time spent with good friends.

Thank you to everyone who has wished me well this week and left lovely comments. I really and truly appreciate it, and wanted you to know you've helped, and this week *did* get better.

This is what I wore yesterday for a dentist appointment and coffee with Mum
I was never much a fan of denim shorts with tights, but I'm now a convert

And today I put together two "difficult" pieces from my wardrobe; things I never normally think to wear because there are some what awkward to pair up with other items.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Well that's that.
I have a lipbalm review coming up soon, and hopefully some photos from tomorrow night.

Ooh, UK readers, who else managed to nab a Giles Deacon scarf via the Caramel Bunny?

half way

Half way through another week, and after a rubbish couple of days, I'm hoping the second half gets better.

Outfit wise, nothing you haven't seen before. I'm getting a bit sick of the repetition of what I wear, but with little money for new clothes, what's a girl to do?

Thank you for the wonderful comments on my last post,
they really put a smile on my face.

letting the skirt do the talking

Hello, and Happy Monday.
I am having the worst possible day *screams*
so I do hope everyone else is having a somewhat better start to the week.

Thankfully I took photos before my mood turned sour,
my outfit today contains the most black I have worn in quite some time, but with a skirt this patterned, I thought it needed to speak for itself.

I did wear a tuxedo jacket (also black) when I went out,
oddly its not all that cold right now, or at least, I'm not...so I was pretty comfortable.
(Normally I'm the one with her winter coat on from September 1st)

What's everyone up to this week?
A quiet one for me, rounding off with a Halloween get together with friends on Saturday night.

Brights

In contrast to my last two outfits which were distinctly grey, both yesterday and today I have opted for splashes of bright colours, mainly in the form of tights.
I was thinking back to when I first bought a pair of coloured tights; perhaps two years ago?
Anyway, I was so terrified of wearing them and drawing attention to myself, but now, I just don't care.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Yesterday involved coffee and wanderings with Mum, and getting soaked by a torrential downpour.
I am SO over this weather.

Today I have a quiet day planned, and a major urge to de-clutter my bedroom, which is very unlike me. But still, I can do that and catch up with the Masterchef final at the same time.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Apologies for the super lame poses, anyone else find it REALLY hard to know how to stand when taking photos?

I believe I have a quiet weekend ahead too, same as always in Laura land. But I don't mind, quiet is good and with Strictly and X-factor on TV, I'm quite happy to be lazy, staying warm and dry.

What do your weekend plans involve?

Other than TV, I work tomorrow morning, and then perhaps I'll do a bit more Christmas shopping, or some crafts.

grey days

Good morning and happy mid-week, half way to the weekend!
How's the weather where you are? (I'm such a true Brit!) we have rain, rain...and a bit more rain. I am most un-amused. It's okay when you can stay inside, but when you HAVE to go out...

Yesterday I wore my zipper pencil skirt. I love the skirt but after 5 minutes I realised why I never wear it...
stairs become impossible. Seriously. In the end I went sideways like a crab.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Today I went for more grey, with the addition of wet look leopard print detail tights.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Currently it's dry outside, and touch wood it'll stay that way until lunch-time as I have to go out.
This clever clogs knew she had baking to do (2 more lots of hobnobs as Mum's colleagues are demanding!) yet forgot to buy flour.

What are you up to?
Don't forget to check out my sale
And watch this space for the next installment of the gift guide coming up on Cant Help but Be later today.

Not much else to say for myself today,
other than many thanks for the amazing feedback I've been getting lately.
I'm nearing 100 followers now, so fingers crossed I'll do some kind of giveaway to mark the occasion, as I am yet to do one since moving blogs.

Please don't forget to check out my sale here to kickstart your holiday shopping, or spoil yourselves!

And the latest post on Cant Help but Be, with a gift guide post coming later this week.

Kicking off this post with a tag passed along by the sweetheart over at Notes from the Toothfairy

Yesterday I wore another new pair of tights; green. I got a few odd looks when I popped out with Mum, but whatever. I can't help my addiction! Dad was away overnight and Mum worked till 7, so I spent my afternoon being a domestic goddess and baked hobnob biscuits (that Mum has taken to work with her today!)

Today is the third anniversary of a dear friend's death, and I'm not really sure what to do with myself. It is still so early in the day (10am, and I woke at 5) so vegging back in bed with my book might help.
Colour in my outfit didn't feel right, so I went with B&W whilst remaining comfortable

Photobucket

Photobucket

(see what I mean about stalker cat?!)

I'll be posting up some new jewellery at the weekend, might help you get kick started with some Christmas shopping...

Anyway,
have a great day, whatever you do. Be happy. Be safe.

rock and roll

Happy Mid-Week! Half way to the weekend, hurrah!
This is actually what I wore yesterday, as today I have (another) cold and look like something the cat dragged in; though not my cat...he's too lazy and afraid of small creatures to bring anything other than himself through the cat flap!

I think this jumper dress from New Look is going to end up being my buy of the season. I went two sizes up to get the desired loose fit and it's SO comfortable.

Not much else to report on, such is the quiet life I lead. I'm supposed to be researching my next moves in terms of courses etc,
but really, I'll probably just crawl back in to bed for the third time today.

Check out our Autumn Handbag Essentials post on Can't Help but Be, too
I'm trying to step things up a gear with this blog now I'm used to wordpress so expect more posts more often,
including the Christmas gift guides I promised. Many thanks for the suggestions...

yellow legs

Good morning and Happy Monday, lets hope it's a better week all round eh?!
The weather is stunning today which I'm taking as a good omen, but only time will tell...

Kicking off the week with this weekend's Strictly results for those of you who are interested:

As always, see the official BBC website for more details!
Who caught Amy Winehouse's god daughter's performance? She is SO talented. Loved it.

Outfit wise I decided to break out one of my many new pairs of tights. One opened, 12 more packs to debut *rolls eyes*...yes, I really do have a problem I think.

(sorry I look so miserable!)

I've also started putting together some gift guides on Cant Help but Be and kicked off today with part one, introducing the delicious sounding Chocolateque so please check it out, there is a link to their website on the post.

And on the subject of gifts, what guides would you like to see? Anyone you need ideas for? Always find your best friend hard to buy for? Let me know and I'll see what I can do in the way of a post.

7 things you've always wanted to know about me.

I was tagged by fellow Bristol dweller Susan to reveal seven facts about myself. So here goes:

1. I LOVE Marmite. Yummy brown goo.

2. I talk. A lot. When there is no one else around to talk to, I have conversations with the cat.

3. Prawns scare me. Just the look of them gives me the creeps. I have never willingly/knowingly eaten them.

4. I don't have a favourite colour.

5. I am currently addicted to mini smarties.

6. I have lived in the same town my whole life, and would love to relocate somewhere new, just for some variety.

7. I used to practise Judo. I got up to Green Belt then quit. I also used to kayack.

So there we go, I hope you are now enligtened.
Long time readers will know I always opt out of tagging specific people, and this is no exception.
Tag yourselves, or answer in comments. DO IT PEOPLE, I'm NOSY!

Thank you for the kind, sweet words on my last post <3

yesterday and today

Hello all,
This will be more of an outfit post than a words post as this week has just down right sucked.
Ron's brother Harry passed away (peacefully and from old age) yesterday, and this time of year and awful weather combined with that as well have made me a sad bunny.

So, outfits:

Mid Week outfit

Happy Wednesday one and all (though for some reason my head is telling me its Thursday..please tell me I'm wrong?!)

Nothing spectacular going on in the wardrobe department today, does anyone else find this time of year a complete nightmare when it comes to picking what to wear? It's not yet cold enough for full on winter gear, but my spring and summer attire, even with layering just doesn't look right against the grey skies and fallen leaves.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I look a bit tired and miserable today, eek, well that's what being woken up at 7am will do to ya,
but when the culprit looks this cute, what is a girl to do?

Have a great day!
